The Adriatic premium
Croatia costs roughly twice Albania and about 40% more than Poland. Some of that is genuine cost structure — Croatia adopted the euro and its coastal economy is tourism-priced — and some is that Croatian clinics have never competed at the bottom of the market.
Rijeka and the Istrian coast have long served Italian and Slovenian patients crossing the border for the day, which is a different business from flying in from Manchester for a week. It shows in how clinics are set up: more general practice, fewer dedicated international patient coordinators.
Who it suits
Croatia makes sense for a patient who wants EU regulation, a short flight, and treatment folded into a trip they would consider taking regardless. It makes less sense for someone optimising purely on cost, where Romania offers the same EU standing for £250 less per tooth.
Zagreb is the practical base — more clinics, better connections, and away from coastal seasonal pricing. Split and Dubrovnik are pleasant and dearer.
