The smallest saving on this site
Portugal costs nearly three times Albania and about twice Poland. It is on this list because for a particular patient it is the right answer: a 2h45 flight, EU regulation, widely spoken English, and clinics that operate to Western European service norms rather than medical-tourism package norms.
Halving a £2,500 bill is still halving it. If the alternative is not having the treatment because Istanbul feels like too much, the comparison that matters is against doing nothing.
Lisbon, Porto, Algarve
Lisbon has the widest specialist selection. Porto runs slightly cheaper. The Algarve is shaped by the British and Irish resident population and behaves much like the Spanish costas — English-speaking, familiar, priced accordingly.
When Portugal is the wrong answer
If you are comparing on cost alone, Romania gives you the same EU standing for roughly £600 less per tooth and a flight that is thirty minutes longer. Portugal earns its premium on comfort and familiarity, not on the numbers.
Total cost, including the trip
What it would actually cost you
Treatment plus flights and accommodation for two trips. Implant work needs a second visit 3–6 months later for the final crown.
